About

One person, writing things down

I am Lighter: cryptography by day, music by night, and the occasional piece of writing that refuses to stay a draft. Phos is where the writing lives.

Why Phos

Phos is Greek for light. There is no deeper story: light shows a thing as it is, and writing it down is how I see it clearly. The name is a reminder, not a brand.

The five sections carry Greek words too. Aletheia, unhiddenness, holds life philosophy and frameworks for thinking. Kairos, the right moment, holds thoughts about events as they happen. Melos is music, Bios is everyday life, Pneuma is travel and the images that come back from it.

Cryptography and songwriting share a property: a thing is either right or it is not, and the wrong half is still worth keeping notes on. This site is those notes, kept in order.

How this site works

Three rules I have not found a good reason to break.

  1. Written means thought through

Feeling clear and being clear are different things. The moment an idea hits a page, the fuzzy parts give themselves away.

  2. Slower than the feed

The feed is fast enough already. Only things worth a second read belong here; an empty section beats a padded one.

  3. Fix it in the open

An error gets corrected, and the correction carries a date. Arguments are welcome; the point is never the person.
